Cricket match hosted by Eastergate Cricket Club – August 2024

Andy Newman is a true inspiration of what can be achieved with belief, determination, passion, exercise and a positive mindset.

Huge congratulations go to Andy Newman who made a remarkable return to playing cricket. A keen cricketer, Andy has been living with Parkinson’s for over 20 years, and there was a time when he thought he would never be able play cricket again.

But with a combination of physiotherapy sessions with Vicky Knight, personalised training plans from Chloe Lombard, medication adjustments, a hip replacement, and a whole lot of hard work and determination, Andy made it happen.

Andy organised a charity cricket match for the Allstars at Eastergate Cricket Club where he not only fielded, batted, and umpired, but also raised an incredible amount of money for Positively Parkinson’s. Andy’s journey is a true testament to the power of perseverance—never say never!
